Radio Gaga - Shameless self promotion

I will be setting up an online radio station towards the end of the month, playing the best in ska, soul, jazz, funk, rocksteady, latin, boogaloo, reggae, and all the other crap I listen to. (No Stones Roses, though, I'm afraid). More news will come as I get my internet connection at home, but the Drunken Master Hifi will be online soon... In the meantime, here is a picture of our inspiration:

Siu Tien Yuen as Sam Seed in the 1978 Jackie Chan classic "Drunken Master".

I shall look forward to it. It will make a change form Radio 4 and the World Service. I remember you once saying to me that you wished the whole world was like the World Service, or that the World Service was the world. I didn't understand you at the time, but when I was in Russia, I understood you so perfectly. I longed for that perfect world where everyone loves each other and everyone was fantatic and worthy and wonderful and marvellous. It can't happen, of course, but we can always have our fantasies. I hope I'll be saying soon that I wish the whole world was like Radio Gaga. (Will you be playing much Alla Pugacheva, or Mark Almond singing Russian 'romansy'?)

Is it going to be a radio station? Or an audio blog? Have you checked out soul side? Good luck Luke. I still remember that mix tape you lent me back in college...

Thanx for your support - I will never be able to replace either Radio 4 or the World Service, but I will try to open/expand my listeners' (just you two, probably) minds. MP3/wav/Podcast is the way it will probably go, once a week for an hour or so. Bulgarian jazz, Ethiopian dance, Santeria, Tuvan throat singing. Are you tempted yet?

I'm home alone at last - the Russian's gone out - so I can ignore my translation with even greater abandon now. Yes, Bulgarian jazz, Ethiopian dance, Santeria and Tuvan throat-singing have got me all a-tingle, although I don't know what Santeria is. When can we expect to hear your dulcet tones? (List yourself in blog-lists (Britblog, per esempio) to get yourself more readers/listeners.)

Thanks for the link, Pavlik. I'm still kicking some ideas around - I have no desire to become a internet based DLT (or even worse, Mike Read). But it will, as they say in Jamaica, 'soon come'...
