Portsmouth,

Belarus and anti-Semitism, all in one BBC report.

Cor blimey. What a find! I disapprove of the BBC's russified spelling of the Belarusian speck on the map. As this site shows, it should, it goes without saying, be Damachava.

This earlier BBC story about Savoniuk tells a pretty fascinating life story, no doubt similar to a great many others in that part of the world at the time. And how weird and yet common, no doubt, that after such a wicked and psychotic wartime life, he should settle in the UK and lead such a seemingly ordinary one. Presumably, not many tears are being shed for him today.
