Cryptozoology

The interview in Metro today with Richard Freeman led me to the CFZ site. Cryptozoology has fascinated me since childhood holidays to Loch Ness, and the Discovery Channel used to show programme after programme about mysterious creatures from around the world (usually at 3.30 am - insomnia is a wonderful thing). The discovery of the new species in New Guinea must surely hint that there are innumerable new species to be discovered. And although the Hydra that appears in the Cabinet of Natural Curiousities may have been more than slightly off the mark, who is to say that other mythological creatures do not have their roots in a real animal.

Back again

Pipex have re-connected us, so I can start blogging again. I have been investing in Blue Note CD reissues in the absence of the Internet - I guess I have an addictive personality, and have to fill my time with someting I enjoy (even though most of my interests are financially challenging). Anyways, here is the top five tracks from these purchases:

1. Wayne Shorter - Dance Cadaverous
2. Andrew Hill - Yesterday's Tomorrow
3. Jack Wilson - Easterly Winds
4. Horace Silver - Kathy
5. Eddie Palmieri - Harlem River Drive

Jazz acts as a kind of aural sorbet for me, clearing my pallette if I have listened to too much of one kind of music. The freedom and inventiveness of all of the tracks above has been absolute bliss, especially as listening to them has coincided with the arrival of spring in West London - it was sunny and warm today for the first time this year.

No Interweb

at home at the moment - we are going over to Pipex, so I can only blog in my lunchbreak. Not that you would notice. I should be back next week.

Rockers Galore. You know the score.

In one of my intermittent good moods brought on by excellent Japanese food and delightful company this evening, I will send a double CD set of the tunes currently clogging up my stereo to the first/next/only (the latter is most likely) five people to post their top three (that's 3) favourite 1980's songs here.

Do you like The Simpsons?

They are real...
