Cor blimey, that's made me feel a touch on the old side. I don't know any of those songs apart from Danny Boy (which occasionally even invites a tear, I have to say), unless Rudi is the one that goes, "Stop ya messin' aroun', ah ah ah... A message to you Ru-di." Is it? Is it? Or am I a dinosaur? Don't see much Schubert in there...

DJ Lukeski, thank you galore for this. I am listening right now (and hear that Rudi isn't what I thought it was, but I'd forgotten to notice The Jackson 5 on the list so I know that song too, of course). Am enjoying it greatly and it is lulling me to distraction as I sit and do another dreary translation. Thank you a gazillion times.

I'll start posting some commentary to these track. I hope they weren't too modern for you all. Anyway, here are my comments on the first few tracks (imagine me in a "Whispering Bob Harris" on the Old Grey Whistle Test kind of voice if you so wish).

Let God Turn It Around For You - US Radio
An engaging introductory comment from the 'Faith' CD (now deleted) on Soul Jazz Records

Welcome To Jamrock - Damian "Jr Gong" Marley
Biggest reggae track of the last 10 years from Robert Nesta's son.

Rudi - Butch Cassidy Sound System
More dancehall from a ginger fella in Glasgow.

Acrylic Venezuela - Osunlade
Deep spiritual New York/Nigerian house music of the highest order.

Nume Inye - Cardinal Rex Jim Lawson
Nigerian pop from the late 60's - the Lagos All Routes and Lagos Chop Up CDs from Honest Jon's have been on constant rotation in Ealing for the last couple of weeks.

I Want You Back (Z-Trip Remix) - Jackson 5
Track of the year for me, from the Motown Remixed project. Michael meets Fela Kuti and Grandmaster Flash. Absolutely perfect.

Reviews from everyone else are most welcome...

Make Me Believe In You (Black Science Orchestra Re-edit) - Patti Job
Excellent edit of the Curtis Mayfield classic - imagine it in a club...

Watch Out Now - The Beatnuts
Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got. I'm stil Lukie form the block.

Get A Move On - Mr Scruff
Jazzy and infuriatingly danceable.

Bonita Applebum - A Tribe Called Quest
Golden Age positive hiphop classic.

The Truth - Handsome Boy Modelling School feat. Roisin Murphy
Deep bluesy hiphop featuring the vocalist from Moloko.

Yegelle Tezeta - Mulatu Astataque
Ethiopian Hammond, anyone.

Cookin' - Beatfanatic
Latino breakbet at it best.

Take Me Back To Piaui (Dubben Mix) - Juca Chaves
Brazilian classic drenched in echo.

Doober - Bah Samba
London-based latino goodness.

Private Sunshine (Big Lounge Album Mix) - Ashley Slater
New folky soul.

A Change Is Gonna Come - Sam Cooke
A classic. Period.

Back In The Day - Unknown

Danny Boy (Derrylondon Air) - Christy Moore
Guaranteed to bring a tear to Dezik's eye.
