Crappy weather and spots, as well as a glut of new CDs and the rediscovery of some older tracks, have inspired me to produce a new set of CDs this afternoon. I will send them next week (along with any replacements for older CDs - sorry Pavlik). In the meantime, though, enjoy this:

CDs are done - all pre-1981 classics guaranteed to rock any party. Jamaica, Brazil, New York and the southern states of the US all figure prominently.
Nowt to do with owt, but your new avatar - is that the word? - of Ossie Ardiles reminds me of my favourite football chant, even better than the Germans', "Oh, wie ist dass schön." It was coined by, I think, Newcastle fans when they bought a Brazilian. It goes a-something like this:
His name is Mirandinha
He's not from Argentina
He's from Brazil
He's fuckin' brill.
A masterpiece, nicht wahr?
I was reminded of his brilliance for 'Tottingham' watching some football show on Sky the other night - 1980/81 season, with Ardiles/Villa and that dreadful song (can there be any other kind?) with Chas n Dave.
I remember them (or was it just Ossie at this point?) being booed every time they/he touched the ball during the Falklands conflict. Didn't Villa once do the best goal celebration ever? Was it FA Cup final against Manchester City?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZRhaTpPpbw - this actually brought a tear to my eye, but I am a bit tipsy, and I only really started supporting Spurs when I fancied Lineker and Gazza simultaneously.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dn9nTbIliZE - another youtube gem.
Drunkenness and football. Are you sure you're not het? I think Ossie was sent out on loan to Spain for the duration of the Falklands Conflict. Although I may have imagined that as i was 5 years old at the time.
5! I was 43.
