A quotation
“For what I always hated and detested and cursed above all things was this contentment, this healthiness and comfort, this carefully preserved optimism of the middle classes, this fat and prosperous brood of mediocrity.”
Hesse - Steppenwolf

I demand more posts as I sit here avoiding work, or are you observing the sabbath? I demand to be entertained.
In naughtily unmythic moments, I think I long for exactly what Hesse here excoriates. (Why is the quote in that tense? Did he change his mind? Or is it an American translation?) Well, mediocrity is a killer word, of course, but sometimes I think utter, overwhelming, crushing averageness must be awfully nice. As a bonkers poof, I suppose I might not be likely to achieve it any time soon.
Get blogging sir...
You must read Steppenwolf - I'll stick a copy in the post zavtra. Averageness is vile - soul-crushingly so. Zhivaya zhizn' (if my Russian isn;t too rusty) is the only way to go...
Or maybe I'm just bonkers...
Darling, you're an angel with your constant parcels. I'll read it and hopfully be reradicalised immediately.
