OK

so my career as a football pundit or gambler is over before it even started. I did get Portugal in the sweepstake at work, so Big Phil is my god at present. Even the offer of free CDs has failed to tempt people to dip their toes in the water of posting comments, so I am no good as a blogger, and my taste in music is clearly awful. No journalism or DJing as a career. Customer service is not one of my strengths, so bookselling is out. What can I do? Advice, please, dear readers... Can one be in crisis professionally?

Convert to catholicism and become a priest. There a lot of vacancies and you can easily promote. Lot of time for yourself, free travels around the world, money, nice food and, what is best, everybody tell you their darkest secrets.

And I look good in black. But to quote dear Father Ted, "I'm not a fascist. I'm a priest. Fascists dress up in black and tell people what to do. Whereas priests... ...More drink!"

Darling, professional crisis is surely crisis numero uno. It would be a crisis if you WEREN'T in crisis about what you were doing professionally. Yes, become a priest, but you'll have to convert to homosexuality first too, of course.

...and you should consider pederasty as well...

Are there any real Catholics left outside of Poland and Lithuania? Even the Irish have given up the ghost (or should that be (Holy) Spirit) as they've caught up with the rest of Europe. I think my original question was malformed - although I am suffering work-related issues, I wonder whether I can be a person who gts paid for having crises - the book I am reading on dear old Dosters at the moment suggests that his books parallel his life, in that 99% of it was spent in crisis and confusion (with the accompanying creativity) and 1% in blissful Russian Orthdox peace. So the entire Fedor Mikhailovich industry is based on these crises - although his descendants live in poverty (there is an article on the BBC about this that I read many moons ago - have a search).

Germany is riddled with practising Catholics. I base this assumption on the fact that the two gay friends I have made here are both proper Catholics. (One has a gay priest friend.)
